Infrastructure Cook Islands is one of the Governments main response agencies during times of a natural disaster like a cyclone. In the event of an impending extreme weather event or a disaster, ICI is tasked with duties for preparing for the event, undertaking response during the event and recovery after the event.
ICI’s focus is on public roads and public drainage networks. ICI does not attend to damage to personal property. Report this damage to your local puna or the National Emergency Operation Centre at the Police Headquarters on 22499.
ICI’s Disaster Response Management coordination unit is called the ICI Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). Staff who form the EOC may work from home, coordinating the response and recovery remotely or may be in the EOC at the Ministry. The EOC is located in the Civil Works building. During a disaster or response event you can get in touch with the ICI Disaster Coordinator on 76158 and Assistant Disaster Coordinator on 75021.
The figure below provides a list of where ICI is involved in the response effort.
