Request for Quotation
Quotations – $1,000 to $29,999 budget
A quotation is a direct invitation to relevant and known suppliers to provide a quote for the provision of goods and or services. A minimum of 3 responses is preferable and evaluated according to the specific requirements and where appropriate, the agency, on behalf of the Crown will enter into a contract with the successful supplier.
This approach is flexible and the award is predominantly based on price, quality and the availability of the goods and or services.
Quotations – $30,000 to $59,999 budget
A quotation is an open invitation to the market via a Request for Quotes (RFQ) document to provide a response for the provision of goods and or services. All responses will be evaluated according to the specified criteria and where appropriate, the agency, on behalf of the Crown will enter into a contract with the successful tenderer.
This approach is highly transparent thus promotes and encourages participation and competitive pricing. On the contrary, it can be time consuming due to the volume of submissions to be evaluated and also risky since it may also attract submission from less qualified, experienced and capable suppliers.
